Who we are
Brooklyn Artists and printmakers.
Roni Henning is an Artist, Master Printer, Teacher and Author. She printed with many notable artists including Romare Bearden, Red Grooms, Alice Neel and Andy Warhol. Her research into green technology transformed her workshop into a non-toxic environmentally friendly studio and teaching facility. Her two books “SCREENPRINTING: Water-based Techniques” and “WATER-BASED SCREENPRINTING TODAY” published by Watson-Guptill describes her transition.
Dawn Henning is a Brooklyn based Artist, Printmaker and Illustrator. She’s exhibited widely and is well known for her bird images and her support of many wildlife organizations. Her illustrations can be found in Naomi Shihab Nye’s “Voices in the Air” published by HarperCollins 2018.
Brooklyn Tee Time was born out of our love for the natural world and our serious concerns over the
long and growing list of endangered animals around the world.
We decided to create a Kickstarter campaign to get the funding and test the waters in October of 2017, the idea was to create beautiful designs to help raise awareness of the plight of so many endangered species. As artists and printmakers it was something we enjoyed doing, creating designs and sharing them in one of the most accessible platforms for sharing information – tee shirts!
The tees had to be special, made of fibers we’d like to wear ourselves and the designs full of love for the creature we were highlighting.
A little more than 2 weeks into the Kickstarter campaign we were fully funded and selected as one of Kickstarter’s “Projects We Love”
We got serious about printing and sent out tees all over the country, Germany, Switzerland, England, Australia and South Africa!
We are a family run company, not a corporation.
